This course will equip you with an in-depth understanding of how counselling skills are used in everyday life and work, and of the approaches that underpin these skills.

It is ideal in order to take the first step on your route towards becoming a qualified counsellor.

It is also suitable if you would like to enhance your existing functional role through the use of counselling skills.

  • Be able to self-reflect using theoretical approaches

Unit 3: Working ethically with counselling skills

  • Understand what is meant by an ethical framework
  • Know how an ethical framework relates to the use of counselling skills
  • Understand the importance of the setting in which counselling skills are used
  • Understand the concepts of ethical referral

Unit 4: Counselling skills and diversity

  • Understand the meaning of discrimination
  • Understand issues of diversity
  • Understand power issues within the counselling process

Unit 5: Counselling skills and personal development

  • Know own development needs

How the course works

This course is studied online. After enrolling you will receive access to your online course content on our unique online learning environment.

You can then begin the course when you are ready and progress in your own time. This course is expected to take 400 hours and you have up to 2 years to complete the course.

Upon successful completion you will achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills (600/0727/8) qualification.

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills is a regulated qualification. This means it is a nationally recognised qualification, regulated by Ofqual in England.

This qualification is ideal for those seeking to enhance their functional role through the use of counselling skills. Learners will gain an understanding of a range of counselling skills and have the opportunity to examine some of the various schools of thought/theoretical models associated with them. It does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.

This course has a credit value of 40 total credits.
