Overview

This course will increase your knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health by covering the mental health problems most commonly associated with children and young people, the impact of mental ill-health on children and young people and the support available to help children and young people maintain mental wellbeing.

Completing this qualification would support the learner’s progression onto further qualifications, and into relevant employment in the health and social care or education sectors.

£435*, or make an initial payment of £50, followed by 11 monthly instalments of £35

This course consists of 5 units:

Unit 1: Understand children and young people’s mental health in context

Unit 2: Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health

Unit 3: Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns

Unit 4: Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns

Unit 5: Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns

How the course works

You can complete this course from the comfort of your own home – in your own time and at your own pace – with helpful support and encouragement from our friendly tutors.

At the end of each unit there will be an assignment, which is submitted to your tutor for feedback. To achieve the qualification, you will need to successfully complete all units in the course.

As you submit each assignment your next course unit will be mailed out for you to study when it suits you.

Online study
Your course units can be accessed and your assignments completed via our online learning platform.

You will be able to progress through your course whenever and wherever you wish – all you need is access to the internet, and a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

You can begin the course when you are ready and progress in your own time. This course is expected to take 160 hours and you have up to 2 years to complete the course.

Course Length

The Total Qualification Time (TQT) for this qualification is 160 hours. TQT is a term used by Ofqual, which indicates the minimum length of time it would take the average learner to complete the qualification.

Level and Certification

Upon successful completion you will achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health (603/2813/7) qualification.

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health is a regulated qualification. This means it is a nationally recognised qualification, regulated by Ofqual in England.

This qualification would support progression onto further qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care or education sectors.
