Overview

A dysfunctional family is defined as one that is consistently unable to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Through its maladaptive behaviours, this model of family develops a set of restrictions that inhibit the social and emotional growth of its members.

The healthy family, on the other hand, provides safety and nurturing for its members and assists them in their development by setting firm but reasonable limits.

This course will be invaluable to any counsellor interested in this field, and explores dysfunction and the therapeutic process of recovery.

How the course works

This is a paper-based distance learning course. Upon enrolment you receive your first course lessons.

You can study in your own time, at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home. If you have any questions, or would like feedback or encouragement about your course or your studies, you can contact our friendly tutors by phone, email or post.

At the end of each lesson are a set of questions. Completing these can aid your learning and help you master each step before moving on to the next. Your next lesson will then arrive for you to continue when it suits you.

Having progressed through each lesson you can take your final examination at home, and at a date and time that suits you. Then, on successful completion you will be awarded your certificates. You have up to 2 years to complete the course.

Course Length

There are no set time limits or deadlines for this course, so you can study at your own pace. Your progress may therefore depend upon how much time you would like to commit to study.

Level and Certification

On successful completion, students will receive:

  • The CCPT Certificate of Completion in Family Therapy
  • Certificate of achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards

On successful completion of this course, you have received training designed as either a foundation qualification leading to further studies to attain a practitioner level, or professional development to gain additional skills and knowledge to expand the practice of the existing therapist.

There are 2 payment options available to this course, and the study method is Paper based study

You will receive your course units in paper format by post, your assignments can be completed and then submitted to us by post or email.

1) Pay the total course fee of £295* in one sum

2) Pay a deposit of just £55*, followed by 8 instalments of £30
